We were started by our neighbor Frank Farrell, who saw his neighbors unhoused and hungry. He took action. Frank made a big pot of soup and put it with sandwiches in a cart and gave them out freely. Others joined in to create teams to feed the people. Twenty eight years later, we continue this weekly operation by giving meals out, now to anyone who wants them, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The meal has evolved over the years and now primarily uses food leftover from other local nonprofits, in combination with donated produce to create dishes of chicken with salad, rice and veggies, and other meals. Volunteers are welcome to eat as well as our guests. Alongside the meals, we give bread, fresh fruit, drinks, and any other donations.

With our incorporation this fall, we were able to launch care packages for unhoused folks. We accepted and distributed 10,000 Kind bars for our communities alongside North and South Brooklyn Mutual Aid. Through Face Mask Aid and volunteer sewers, we’ve shared over 1,000 masks with our neighbors. We hope with the help of your support and donations, we can continue responsive special initiatives as well as our weekly operations to take care of our Brooklyn community.
